Custom Space Pillow

Here is a pillow I made for my outer space obsessed son. Pardon the wrinkles....he sat on it all day after I gave it to him! I used spoonflower to upload my design onto a fat quarter of fabric, and then my dearest mommy sewed this up for me.
Look closely and you can see just WHO is driving the rocket! This brought a huge smile to his face when he saw this!
Next time, I'm going to use this kind of insert for the pillow. It would be more fluffy and soft. If anyone wants to know more about how to do this, or wants me to make something similar for their little one, don't hesitate to ask! Have a great day you all - to infinity and beyond! :)

There is a super, awesome, majory FUN contest coming up on spoonflower. The NAP company wants folks to submit a design with a nature theme that both baby and mom will love for the panel on a new line of baby carriers they are doing. Anyone can vote for who wins, and the winner gets $500 and the design gets used on the baby carrier! Cool, huh? I'm so excited. I worked for probably about 700 hours (ok, not really, but close) on my design. Here it is below.
Thanks for all of your advice about the bedding. We decided to go with this one below. It is basically the flower garden but with a pink background, and then made a few adjustments. I'm hoping it will make some super cute baby bedding.

I'll be sure to let you all know when the voting starts for that contest. I would love your vote! :)

Giveaway!

I'm giving this print away. If you want it, you'll have to comment so I know that you would like it. Ok? Say whatever you want in your comment :). Don't you love this verse? Love it. Love it. Love it.

I decided to enter this one (below) to the next contest at spoonflower I was telling you all about. It is called "You are my Sunshine". I'm hoping it will get enough votes! I think this would be such a cute spring dress!! Maybe even an easter dress??
I'll let you all know when voting is up for the spoonflower contest. Thanks everyone!
I'll pick the winner for the print giveaway from random.org and then let you know who the winner is. Deadline is Thursday.

Thank you so much for your responses everyone! Here are the pears I was telling you about yesterday.
Now, let me explain the idea behind my design process for this theme. When spoonflower announced their contest theme on their blog, they also referenced this blog entry about children's prints. If you glance at it, you'll see that overall they caution choosing prints with too much print, not even white space, etc. The writer likes a certain degree of sophistication in juvenile prints. Now, I realize this is just one opinion, but since they advised us to read this before entering the contest, I'm keeping this in mind for my designs (which, by the way, kind of throws out the "Pink Forest" option don't you think?).
Also, I have many, many prints I could use but they are being used for other projects that don't allow me to use them for this contest. Those others are just out of the question. So, any thoughts on ideas now? I love discussing art :).

Can you help me decide?

Hey everyone, I would love for you to help me out here if you could. Pretttttty please? There is another Spoonflower fabric design contest coming up, and the contest theme is "Childrens Prints: Prints good for using in children's clothes". I'd love to enter another design. I can't decide what to do! I narrowed it down to these three. Then, I started working on one the other day with pears, branches, and flowers but it just wasn't looking right....maybe I should stick with it? I don't know! Could you help me decide? Please? Pick one of these three designs, or make a new one?
Option 1: Robots
Option 2: Red Birds

Option 3: Pink Forest
Option 4: Make a new one/or stick with the pear idea.

Thank you so much everyone! I really appreciate it. :)

Oh, how fun! So my sister is learning to sew so we can do some really fun stuff together. I still don't know how to sew....very annoying....but she is doing a great job learning. Here is her first real project for me. Pillows! I hope my friend doesn't see this before I give the top one to her for her baby boy, but here they are! Cute huh? I printed the fabric at Spoonflower in these designs. You can't really see but Mason's has his full name and birthday on it. The bottom one is for my daughter. I am so excited about these. I'll take a picture of the back as well to show you the softness of the backing fabric. I got it at Hobby Lobby and it's perfect for these baby pillows.
I've revised the doll panel and I'm going to have my sister sew it and see how it turns out. The other one didn't look so hot and needed adjustments :).

Forest Owls Fabric

Forest Owls 8 by 10 art print

Forest Owls fabric
My "Forest Owls" fabric came the other day. I was very pleased with how it turned out. I even made a print to match (an alphabet print). I think it's perfect for the fall. I may do this one again and make it non-directional though, so it's easier to sew.
FYI-Spoonflower has changed their site so that designers can sell their fabric on spoonflower's site. All they have to do is mark it so that it can be bought by others, and the designer (seller) gets a small percentage of the sale. Now, the only one I have for sale on spoonflower right now is my christmas owls, in case anyone is interested in buying those. All of my other designs can be viewed in my gallery, but are not for sale. You'll have to contact me for those, or visit my etsy shop :).
My design gallery at spoonflower is http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/emrick123
Tomorrow I'll post about how I do this, for those of you who are interested in knowing. I've had many, many people ask, so I think I'll give ya some inside information tomorrow ;). Have a great night everyone!

Remember the "Happy Apples" design?

Oh how fun! I just got this fabric in the mail today, and let me tell you, it was like opening a christmas present! This fabric is the organic knit, which I hadn't seen or touched before. It. Is. Fabulous. Seriously! It is so soft, smooth, and beautiful! I couldn't be happier with how the colors came out either. When my mom makes a dress out of this for my 9 month old, I'll be SURE to post photos :). So, what do you all think about the doll idea I posted about before? I'm also thinking about doing other things too, like animals....bunnies, deer, birds....robots? I think they would all make really fun little stuffies for kids. And, it would be so neat to have them personalized too! If any of you sewers out there would like a pattern just email me. I'm thinking of selling files with the patterns to these so you can just upload them to spoonflower and print what you want. Not sure exactly how I'll do this yet, but I'm still thinking on it.....

I'm waiting for these four yards of fabric to show up in my mailbox next week. I can't wait to see how they look! I'll be listing them in my etsy shop (the same shop I sell my wall art prints) so be sure to take a look. Let me know if you'd like to pre-order and I'll be sure to save you some.

Thanks so much to those of you who voted for my fabric on spoonflower. I'm in the lead right now, and I am so thankful. The voting ends on Wednesday so stop on over and vote if you haven't yet. It's in the lower left hand side of the http://www.spoonflower.com/ website where it has fabric of the week voting. Again, mine are the christmas owls.

Which of the fabrics above do you like best? I'm trying to decide which one to order more of right now. Thanks everyone!

I created another fabric design. I just uploaded it to spoonflower and it looks really cool in the whole yardage form. The repeat with it all together is even cooler. What do you think? I'm in the works for setting up another etsy shop to sell some fabric. I'm thinking the only way right now that I can do this is to sell fat quarters for $10 each. What do you guys think about this? I totally get not wanting to pay too much for things, especially if you are making something with it so then you can't re-sell it if your supplies are too much. I TOTALLY get that. I have the same issues with my wall art prints. Anyone who wants to give me some feedback, feel free! Thanks everyone!

I just uploaded this design to make into some fabric. What do you think? I'm lovin it, and wish I had crib bedding made out of it for my baby's room! I made a custom art print order for a friend of mine, and it is what inspired this. Hey - stay tuned because I'm going to have a giveaway peeps!

Oh, my! It's been a long time since I posted last...I've been really, really busy creating! Here is what I'm working on now. I just did the shark one tonight. I'm trying to do something simple for my kids' bathroom. I'm thinking I'll make one to match it that is a big boat in the water - not sure what else.....any susggestions?

The owls are a pattern for fabric print. I am entering it in a contest at spoonflower.com to see if I can win and get some free fabric! As soon as they start the voting process I'll link you to it. Will you vote for me? Pretty please!??! :)

Ok, I'm off to bed. We are getting ready for vacation, and will be gone for the rest of the week/weekend. Have a great week everyone!
